The Jane Mysteries: Murder at Moseby is a 2023 Honour Award Women’s film by Hallmark which falls into the intriguing investigative genre blended with the small-town dynamics that the network has become popular for. The story follows Jane DaSilva, a woman dealing with a cold case grant scheme, which she inherited from her uncle’s charity, who had been its head.
In Murder at Moseby, Jane is assigned to unravel the murder mystery of a jazz singer whose life was cut short in the Moseby Jazz Club. Jane is able to solve the puzzle until she realizes that several parties including neighbors and the police have been withholding secrets, lies and several hidden motives. With her loyal team and little romantic involvement with a cop she investigates how this external murder relates to local ones while risking her life and solving many puzzles of the peculiar town.
It is cozy mysteries typical of Hallmark with plenty of intrigue, humor, engaging characters, and happy endings despite some dark crimes. The plot packs enough interest and suspense trashing of Hallmark’s cut on feel good stories.
