The Turnaround is directed by Ben Proudfoot and Kyle Thrash and is a short documentary with a heartwarming plot that features regular Philadelphia Phillies supporter Jon McCann and shortstop Trea Turner. It is narrated how McCann encouraged his fellow fans to cheer on Turner during an awful streak for the player in 2023, and that proved in “waking up” both the player and the team.
The documentary brings to focus not just McCann’s role as a fan and member of the community but also his own issues with mental health as part more about support, hopes, and how people affect people. It was first presented on the Telluride Film Festival 1st of September 2024 and in Netflix 18th of October 2024.
