Slingshot

Slingshot is a movie directed by Stephen Burrows and has its initial release in the year 2005. It is adventurous-drama film which contains the elements of character development also and it’s primarily about searching one’s place in the world and dealing with growing pains.

Plot Summary:

The main character in this story is Bobby (played by Ryan McDonald), a high school student who suffers from adolescent perplexities concerning his self-worth and interpersonal engagements. Up to that point, Bobby had suffered a loss when his girlfriend broke up with him and so he decides to do away with the suffocation of the small town like life. He goes out on a road trip with his best friend Milo (played by Shane Kippel) with a slingshot which is a reminder of their care free days as children, as well as the present carefree mood.

While traveling Bobby meets and encounters others who not only challenge him but teach him about love, friendship and growing up. This journey becomes more than just an escape for Bobby as it becomes a coming of age expedition where he learns about his strengths, his visions, his weaknesses and the intricacies of growing up. In addition, he also discovers that sometimes true friends can be as important as a person’s true self.

Identity and Growth : The movie provides a very real scenario in searching for oneself and the need to tackle one’s fears and insecurities as well.
